Air Force Sevens Tournament - April 12th 2014

The AFA will be hosting a sevens tournament on April 12th.  For ACRA member teams, this will also serve as a regional qualifier for ACRA D1 and D2.  Winning a regional qualifier is not a guarantee of an ACRA National 7s invitation, but it is a necessary first step.

As this is a combined D1 and D2 event, the highest finishing D1 and D2 teams will be submitted to ACRA for consideration.

There is NO ROSTER limitation on this event.  Teams may play as many eligible students as they choose.  Teams competing for ACRA must provide a roster, and all rostered players must meet ACRA and  USA Rugby Eligibility guidelines.  Photo IDs will be checked against rosters pre-game so please notify your players to be prepared.

There will be a single trainer available.  Teams who need routine taping are expected to provide their own supplies.  For emergency medical services, we recommend Memorial Hospital at 1400 East Boulder Street.  Memorial Hospital is a Level 2 Trauma Center in downtown Colorado Springs.

Referees & Discipline:
Referees will be provided by the Rocky Mountain GU.  Each team is requested to provide a trained touch judge or assistant referee.  This individual WILL NOT have duties while their team is playing.
A player receiving a yellow card will spend two minutes in the sin bin.  A player receiving a red card will not be able to compete for the duration of the event.  A player receiving two yellow cards will not able able to compete for the duration of the event.

Format:
The event will feature two pools of three during the knock out stage.  Third place teams will play one additional match for standings.  Top 4 teams will play semi-finals, 3rd/4th match, and championship.

Standings:
Teams will be awarded 3 points for a win, 2 points for a tie, and one point for a loss.  In the event of a tie in standings points differential will be used.  If there is still a tie, head-to-head performance will used.

There will be no tie-breakers in pool play.

Tie-breakers in the semi-finals and finals will consist of two periods of sudden death 7s.
All games will be 7 minutes, with the exception of the finals which will be 10 minutes.

Snacks and beverages will be available to purchase.
